Boxscape

Legal

Privacy policy

Effective 7 September 2026. Applies to the Boxscape mobile game. Rewritten for the version that adds advertising and Boxscape Premium; the previous policy, from 18 August 2026, covered the leaderboards only.

The short version

Boxscape has no account system and no sign-in. It never asks you for your name, your email address, or anything else about you. Almost everything it records — your trophies, your settings, which backdrop you picked — is written to your device's private app storage and stays there.

Three things leave your phone, and each is set out in full below. The leaderboards: three scores, a nickname the game made up for you, and a random identifier it generated itself, sent to LootLocker. Advertising: the Android version shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google's ad software receives your device's advertising identifier and IP address to do so — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it asks your permission first. Boxscape Premium: an optional one-time purchase handled by Google Play, of which the game learns only whether you own it.

What the game stores on your device

Boxscape saves your progress locally so it survives between sessions:

StoredWhy
Best bounce count and best survival time, per rating bandTo show your personal records.
Experience, level and skill ratingTo unlock backdrops, and to serve a difficulty that fits how you play.
Trophies earned, and the counters they are judged onTo keep your shelf, and to know what you have already won.
The backdrop, frame and ball you chose, and your sound settingsSo the game opens the way you left it.
Your nickname and a random player identifierSo the boards recognise you as the same player next time. See below.
Whether you own Boxscape PremiumA yes or no, checked against Google Play at launch, so the extras stay unlocked offline.
How many runs you have playedTo space out the interstitial ads described below.
Your advertising consent choiceWritten by Google's consent software so it does not ask again. See Your choices about ads.

This data lives in the app's own private storage area and is not readable by other apps. There is no account behind any of it.

Leaderboards

Boxscape has three global leaderboards — longest run, most bounces, and most trophies held. They are hosted by LootLocker, a third-party game backend. When you finish a run, and when you open the boards, the game sends:

SentWhat it is
Your scoresSurvival time, bounce count, and the number of trophies you hold.
Your nicknameA name the game generates on first run, like HappyLog97. You are never asked for a real one, and it is changed automatically if somebody on the board already has it.
A player identifierA random string the game makes up on first run and saves locally. Not your device id, not an advertising id, and not derived from anything about you or your phone — it exists so the board shows one row for you rather than a new one every launch.
A game key and versionIdentifies the game to the service. Nothing to do with you.

As with any internet request, LootLocker's servers also see the IP address the request arrives from. LootLocker processes this data on our behalf, under its own privacy policy.

In return the game receives the top rows of each board — other players' nicknames and scores — which is what the Scores screen shows.

A run you continued by watching an ad (see below) is not sent to the boards at all. If the game cannot reach the service it shows its own five fixed rivals instead and plays exactly as it would offline.

Advertising

The Android version of Boxscape shows ads served by Google AdMob, part of Google LLC. There are two kinds, and neither appears while you are playing:

  • Rewarded ads you choose. When your last ball escapes, the game may offer one more chance in exchange for watching an ad; on the results board it may offer to double the run's experience points for one. Both play only when you tap the button, and at most one of them plays per run. A continued run earns experience only: it is kept off the leaderboards and personal records so that nobody's place on a board can be bought with an ad.
  • Interstitial ads. A full-screen ad between runs, at most every fourth run, and never straight after a rewarded ad or on a board that is already showing you an unlock or trophy. Boxscape Premium removes these.

To request and show an ad, Google's software inside the game sends Google:

Sent to GoogleWhat it is
Advertising identifierThe resettable Android Advertising ID. Used to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure whether an ad was watched, and — only if you allow it — to pick ads for you. You can reset or delete it in your phone's settings under Google → Ads.
IP address and approximate location derived from itArrives with any internet request; Google uses it to serve ads for your country and language.
Device and app detailsDevice model, Android version, screen size, language, the app's name and version, and Boxscape's AdMob identifiers.
Ad interactionThat an ad was requested, shown, watched to the end, or tapped. This is how a rewarded ad knows to pay out, and how the ad revenue that funds the game is counted.

Google acts as an independent controller of this data under its own privacy policy and its explanation of how it uses data from apps that use its services. Ads are requested with Google's G content rating, the strictest available, and the game is not directed at children. Boxscape itself receives none of this data; it learns only whether an ad is ready and whether a rewarded ad was watched to the end.

Ads are only in the Android version. There are none on iOS, and none when the phone is offline — the game plays exactly the same without them.

Your choices about ads

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent form before it requests any ad. Whether you consent is the legal basis for personalised advertising, and you can refuse. If you refuse, ads are still shown, but Google selects them without building a profile of you: you see non-personalised ads based on the context alone. Elsewhere, ads are served on the basis of our legitimate interest in funding a free game, and Android's own setting to delete or reset your advertising identifier applies.

To change a consent choice you have already made, reset your advertising identifier in your phone's settings or reinstall the game; the form is shown again on the next launch. A button inside the game to reopen the form is planned for a coming version.

Boxscape Premium removes the interstitial ads. The rewarded ads remain available to Premium players as an option; nothing plays unless you tap.

Boxscape Premium

Premium is a one-time purchase (€2.39 in most of the euro area, tax included; Google Play shows the exact price for your country) that removes interstitial ads and unlocks two scenes, a frame and a ball. The purchase is made through Google Play Billing. Google Play takes your payment under its own terms and privacy policy; the game never sees your payment method, your name or your Google account. What the game receives from Play is a purchase confirmation for the item, and it stores a single yes-or-no locally so the extras stay unlocked offline. At launch, when a network is available, it asks Play again whether the purchase still stands, so a refunded purchase is withdrawn and a purchase made on another device with the same Google account is honoured.

Google may transfer data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in its privacy policy. We do not sell personal information, and nobody other than the three services above receives any.

What the game does not do

  • No accounts, logins, or passwords — the leaderboard session is anonymous and needs nothing from you.
  • No real name, email address, or age asked for at any point.
  • No analytics or crash reporting beyond what Google's ad software reports about the ads themselves.
  • No ads during play, and no rewarded ad ever plays without your tap.
  • No location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo access. The ad software sees only the approximate location implied by your IP address.
  • No sale of personal information, and no sharing of it with anyone but the three services named above.

Children

Boxscape is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where that is the local age of digital consent: it asks for nothing, the leaderboard nickname is invented by the game rather than typed by the player, and ads are requested with Google's strictest content rating. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the game in a way that concerns you, write to the address below and we will remove any board entry and help with the rest.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling Boxscape removes its local storage — your records, trophies, settings, nickname and player identifier. A fresh install is a fresh player, with a new nickname and no way back to the old rows.

Leaderboard entries are held by LootLocker and are not removed by uninstalling. To have yours deleted, write to the address below with the nickname shown on your Scores screen and we will remove it.

Data held by Google about ads you were shown is tied to your advertising identifier, not to anything Boxscape holds. Resetting or deleting that identifier in your phone's settings (Google → Ads) breaks the link; Google's own controls at My Ad Center cover the rest. Your Premium purchase is held by Google Play under your Google account and comes back on reinstall.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct and erase the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was done before. Because Boxscape holds no account and cannot tell which player you are, exercising those rights means telling us the nickname on your Scores screen for the leaderboard, and using your phone's advertising settings or Google's controls for advertising data, which Google holds as its own controller. You may also complain to your national data protection authority. The data controller for Boxscape is Gregor Sirca, at the address below.

App stores

Boxscape is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those stores handle the download, any purchase, and their own analytics under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Please refer to Apple's and Google's policies for what they collect when you obtain an app.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Boxscape adds anything that collects or transmits data — analytics, crash reporting, advertising, accounts — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change. The leaderboards arrived that way in August 2026, and advertising and Premium in September 2026: each time this document was rewritten before the build carrying them went out.
