Terms of use
Effective 7 September 2026. Covers the Boxscape game and this website. Section 7 was rewritten for advertising and Boxscape Premium; the previous terms were dated 18 August 2026.
1. Who these terms are with
Boxscape (the “game”) and this website are provided by Gregor Sirca (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the game, or by using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. Your licence to use the game
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play Boxscape on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. That licence lasts as long as you comply with these terms.
3. What you may not do
- Copy, sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the game or its assets.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the game, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Modify the game or create derivative works from it.
- Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice.
- Use the game or site in any way that breaks the law.
4. Ownership
The game, including its code, artwork, sound, and the Boxscape name, remains our property or that of our licensors. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you. Third-party components included in the game remain subject to their own licences.
5. Your device and your data
Boxscape stores your progress locally on your device. What it sends anywhere is set out in the privacy policy: a leaderboard entry (three scores, a nickname the game invents for you, and a random identifier it generates itself), the requests Google's advertising software makes to show ads in the Android version, and the confirmation of a Boxscape Premium purchase. You are responsible for your device, and we cannot recover local data that is lost when an app is uninstalled or a device is reset.
6. The leaderboards
The global boards are provided as-is and as-available. We may remove any entry, reset a board, or stop offering them altogether — for example where an entry is obtained by modifying the game, by automating play, or by any means other than playing it. The game is fully playable without them: if the boards cannot be reached it falls back to its own fixed rivals.
Nicknames are generated by the game rather than chosen by you. If you find one objectionable, tell us at the address below and we will change it.
7. Ads, Boxscape Premium and store purchases
The Android version of Boxscape is free and shows advertising: optional rewarded ads you choose to watch, and an occasional full-screen ad between runs. A run you continue by watching an ad earns experience but does not count for the leaderboards, personal records or the trophies judged on a single run; the game tells you so before you accept. We may change how often ads appear, or which ads are offered, in any version.
Boxscape Premium is a one-time purchase that removes the full-screen ads and unlocks extra scenes, a frame and a ball. It is bought through Google Play, which handles your payment under its own terms; refunds are governed by Google Play's policy rather than by us. Premium is tied to the Google account that bought it and is restored on reinstall or on another device signed into that account. It does not remove the rewarded ads, which only play when you tap. The extras it unlocks are cosmetic and change nothing about how the game scores or plays.
If you obtain Boxscape through the Apple App Store, your download and any payment is likewise handled by that store under its own terms and refund policy.
8. Availability and changes
We may update, change, or discontinue the game or any part of it at any time. We may also update these terms; if we do, we will change the effective date above, and continuing to use the game after that means you accept the revised terms.
9. No warranty
The game and this site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the game will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of the game or this site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the game, if anything, in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Ending the licence
Your licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the game. Sections 4, 9, 10, and 12 survive the end of the licence.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of Slovenia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
